Screen sharing is now commonly used in online meetings and classes. It can help you to explain a document or walk your guests through a presentation. This software is compelling if used correctly. Since the Coronavirus pandemic, millions of workers have been packed in their homes. Some of the best software for screen sharing has been skyrocketed by users in this situation. This unique tool is used from important business meetings to grandpa’s birthday parties.

But imagine, somebody was sharing their screen in a meeting. Suddenly, everybody sees something they shouldn’t have. These situations could have been avoided if you had taken some precautions. So, to help you, here are some mistakes you can detour to have a more pleasant experience.

    #1. Always Keeping Mic On

It is a golden rule to mute the mic anytime you are not talking. On a video call, every single noise in your background can be amplified by the screen. If your audio is noisy, then the guests will not be able to concentrate on your screen.

When sharing your screen, it is advised that you let as little noise as possible in your presentation. This way, you will get the most attention from the attendees.

    #2. Unmuted Notifications

Notifications are distracting when sharing your screen. This breaks the concentration of other people. Most communication apps run in the background, even if you close them. Often they pop up a notification when someone messages you. While this is useful, you don’t want those to show on your screen.

To mute all the notifications, you can turn them off app by app. Alternatively, you can use focus assist or do not disturb to mute all the notifications.

    #3. Irrelevant Tabs And Docs

If your screen is filled with irrelevant tabs, it will feel like a cluttered presentation. You should keep your confidential information away before sharing the screen. Close any documents or browser tabs not related to the meeting. You should also use the best screen-sharing meeting software in this case.

Else, if you have the time and patience, then you can create a virtual desktop just for screen sharing. Yeah, it is a bit complicated. But it is fun for some people. So, you can close all the unnecessary work and will be good to go.

    #4. Cluttered Desktop

A big problem when sharing your screen is a cluttered desktop. Nobody likes to see a messy desktop. Make sure your wallpaper is not distracting to your colleagues in your virtual meeting. If you don’t know what to do, you can just put your company’s logo (if you have one) on your desktop background.

Keeping the background clean makes the meeting look professional. Other people at the conference will prefer your presentation and put their attention into it.

    #5. Having Slow Internet

It’s not hard to guess that your internet speed matters during the stream. If you have a slow internet connection, then it is advised that you do not share your screen. Because if you stream while your connection is leggy, it will make your video choppy.

To tackle this situation, you can close all background apps. If that doesn’t help, increase your bandwidth then.
